First German Television Edward Snowden Interview

TV interview with Edward Snowden

On January 26th Edward Snowden appeared on German television network ARD to give his latest interview. Unfortunately, it was completely blacked out by the media. If you haven’t heard or seen it yet, it really is worth the time. Liveleak has put a link back up and we are happy to re-post. Click the image below to be taken to the video.

In the interview Snowden spoke about his breaking point which came when the Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, lied under oath to Congress’ when he denied the existence of a spying program.

When Snowden was asked about his status as a traitor ‘traitor’,  he replied;

“If I am traitor, whom did I betray? I gave all my information to the American public, to American journalists who are reporting on American issues. If they see that as treason, I think people really need to consider whom they think they’re working for. The public is supposed to be their boss, not their enemy. Beyond that as far as my personal safety, I’ll never be fully safe until these systems have changed.”

In a recent buzzfeed article, NSA analysts and Pentagon officials alike think that Edward Snowden is a traitor to his country and should be executed as such.  “His name is cursed every day over here,” a defense contractor told BuzzFeed. Snowden left the United States after facing multiple charges including espionage. He is currently staying in Moscow, where Russia has granted him asylum.
