About Nurburgring 24-Hour Race

In 1927, the dedicated race course, Nurburgring has been completed with it having a length of 20.8 km or 12.9 mi and in 1970 the first race has been held. Due to its 300 meter or 1000 feet elevation which comes with high and low points, this course has been given a nickname of Green Hell by one of the drivers. This race is very different from other normal races as the goal of the sport and for a team to win is to have the most number of laps completed within 24 hours. Each driver for each team is allowed to drive up to an average of 6 hours. The highest number of laps completed so far is 158 laps wherein the average lap is 15,09 seconds and this includes stops. For racing enthusiasts, this time is a bit slow but considering the track having 154 turns over a 12.9mile course, this time is highly impressive.
